Beginners Taster Day

This full day of workshops is designed to teach you the basics in 2 Ballroom and 2 Latin Dances.

We don’t just teach you the steps! We pride ourselves on covering all the technique required to develop your dancing skills. This includes posture, frame, footwork, timing and musicality.

The day will be carefully structured to give you a ‘taste’ of learning to dance with idodance. You will then have a good foundation on which to build your knowledge and ability.

Bea, Lee and the idodance Team will be guiding you through the day as you experience the wonder of the Waltz, the sensation of the Social Foxtrot, the rhythm of the Rumba and the cheer of the Cha Cha Cha.

We hope you will get the dancing ‘bug’ and wish to continue to learn with us!

Please note that we do not ask you to swap Partners.
This Taster Day is for adults only and you will need to enrol with a Partner.

Useful Information

The following information is to help you make the most of your
Ballroom & Latin Taster Day with idodance.

Our most frequently asked question is: ‘Do we swap partners during a dance class.’ We’d like to put your minds at rest by assuring you that we do not move you from partner to partner. From our experience and feedback, couples want to stay together during their class.

What’s the aim of the taster Day? Well, to introduce you to the wonderful world of Ballroom & Latin dancing! And for you to experience our style of teaching. We pay particular attention to the ‘basics’: posture, frame, footwork, technique. We lay down solid foundations for you to build on! It’s a long day and we appreciate you will have a lot to take in! So, we’ll keep the steps simple and work on you dancing them well.

Feel free to ask questions, or for our help, at any time: The idodance Team will be on hand throughout the day.

To comply with the regulations laid down by the Association that we belong to, we respectfully ask that you do not video or take photographs during the classes. We have prepared a video for you, covering what you will learn during the day, that we will send at the end of the day.

Please wear comfortable shoes, ideally not a trainer with a rubber sole as your feet could ‘stick’ to the floor. Heel height should be whatever you would wear out socially. We suggest bringing an additional pair(s), in order to find the most suitable or to change if your feet get tired!

Comfortable clothing is the order of the day in layers, then you can put on and take off as and when needs be. Do bring a notebook and pen, if you wish to take notes. Don’t forget your packed lunch. Tea & coffee will be available between classes.
